christopher wool

Christopher Wool was born in Chicago in 1955, he uses text in his artwork to write strange sentences that catch peoples attention with their wording. I like his basic style of art and the effect it has. he uses oil paint on aluminum, this is an unusual combination, its like street signs.

Fiona Hall

Fiona Hall is an Australian artistic photographer. Fiona appears to photograph nature that is made out of things that arnt naturally made (not normal plants or trees that grow). her art work is made out of metal or soap by the looks of it.Fiona Hall, A selection of intricate sculptures carved from sardine cans, Royal Academy, LondonNerve EndingsLeaf Litter

Mural Response

first we primed the entire container then waited for it to dry, after a day we painted it bright green, I think we should have done a darker green instead of a neon green. We then gave it another day and started painting our plants, I used paint and spray paint freehand while others used stencils. Looking back at it I should have used a stencil and tried spray painting before doing it on the container. the painting worked well but not the spray painting. I wasnt happy with my end result and I should have spent more time on it. I enjoyed working outside of class and doing a big piece of work even though the end result wasnt good on my behalf.
I like this art piece because they used the actually trees as apart of the mural, also because there are multiple faces in it and the wall has helped to do this

karl maughan

Karl Maughan is a New Zealand artist that paints plants in bright, vibrant colors, his work looks like gardens with lots of flowers. I like the use of bright colors and how vibrant his work is aswell as the materials and methods he uses.
Karl uses screen printing aswell as oil on canvas, oil on linen and inkjet print on paper.

Jim Dine

Jim Dine

Jim was born in Ohio in 1935, and currently still lives in America. Jim paints plants in a kind of 'dirty' way, its difforent to normal plant paintings/drawings where usually theyre clean and pretty where his are more distorted and dark. I would explore the dark aspects of painting plants because I like the way hes done that. Jim uses screen printing with etching, hand coloring, sand papering and abrasion
