jewellery from the past

Ancient Egypt jewellery dates back thousands of years. Uses of gold represent gods and mainly kings and queens would wear it, but even slaves and common people have been found in graves wearing items such as anklets, rings, necklaces and bracelets.
Egyptian jewellery is mainly decorative since almost everyone wore it, except in the cases where it was made from gold which mainly kings and queens wore because of its symbolism to gods.
I think Egyptian jewellery was made for decoration more than function as Egyptians where very well dressed people, especially for kings and queens who felt the need to show their importance with gold.
gold was worn nobility like  kings/queens and the rich where as slaves wore hand made jewellery made out of leather, animal skins and natural materials. evidance of slaves jewellery would have rotted away years ago.

Concertina book

This first concertina book dosnt have an artist specified but I really really love the idea of this one and Im definitely incorporating this type of 'these are a few of my favorite things' type stuff into my concertina book. This one is quite small but mine will probably be a bit bigger, this one also has quite a few pages which mine will aswell. This one seems to be partly hand made and partly digital with mainly photos printed out, i would like mine to be hand made with some photography printed out aswell but also incorporate some of my art into it.

This concertina was found on another websight without an artist, but I love this idea of randomness in a concertina. I dont want mine to just be photo after photo after photo on blank pages. This ones use of different backgrounds and images yet its still got a theme is really interesting. This one has four pages but I think it works really well because with this amount of art put into it it dosnt need many more pages.

Artists book

These are three of Pattie Grey's artist books. The first one is called PAX and has only three pages. I like this use of pages being used to make birds or flowers, and how shes has collage some of the work a little bit without over doing it. Ideas I could put into my own artist book from this would be the use of collage and using book pages to make new things.
This is FRIDA KAHLO BOOK by the same artist, it has multiple pages but by the looks of it it has been waxed so that you cant open it so the main art piece is just the book itself not the pages within. I really love the idea of how its made to look like the dolls dress and how the artist has used candles and wax to keep the book in place, it looks really pretty and is a really original idea. Ideas I would put into my own work would be the use of flower petals and wax because I think it looks really nice and even making a few pages stick together with this idea would be really cool.

The final piece I chose by Pattie Grey is this artists book called 'Book of Cousins'. The book has six pages and has a theme of cousins with some pages having photos/drawings of them and other pages just having little things like flowers and fabric which must be memories from them. This artists book was the one that drew me to Pattie Grey because I love the ways shes put it together. Its had a lot of work put into it and if you look closely you can really see how much has been put into each page and the final result is beautiful. Some features I may put into my own book would be the use of photography and art, I also love the use of lace and the way the book has been set out.
